Take a Stand Day
First up, WordPress is really pissing me off. For a day now I haven’t been able to comment on any blog, even my own. How fucking pathetic is that? A lot of angry forum comments and a few support requests, and still nothing has changed. This is the first major problem I’ve had with them, but right now Blogger isn’t looking too bad.
On to the important business.
Today is “National Take a Stand Day,” the kick-off of “Stand Up In September,” a series of vigils, marches, and protests against the Iraq Occupation. There are many, many events scheduled for today all over the country (you can find one near you here).
Tonight at 7 PM at VCU, there will be a “Take a Stand Town Hall” featuring several speakers including journalist Robert Dreyfuss. You can get all the info here, and you can RSVP if you plan on attending. The rest of the relevant information is below (from the above site).
Hope to see many of you there! Hopefully this will provide me the first opportunity to really test out my new Flip video camera.
Virginia Commonwealth University Commons, Second Floor Auditorium
907 Floyd Avenue
Richmond, VA 23298
“Our Take A Stand Town Hall and Stand Up Vigil is part of a nation-wide organizing drive to demand that members of Congress and the Senate take a stand with the vast majority of Americans who want a safe and responsible redeployment of American Forces from Iraq.
“Our event will include great speakers like Iraq war veterans and their families. As well as guest speaker Robert Dreyfuss, a well known Journalist. We will be showing our Take A Stand video highlighting the local anti-war organizing efforts from this past summer. Our event will be followed by a Stand Up Vigil. We will be providing signs, please refrain from bringing any.
“The event location is handicap accessible. Free parking is also available.”

I’ll be standing in downtown Fort Wayne tonight.
PS … Don’t go back to blogger, they’re having major problems too. That’s why I switched to hosting my own blog on purchased we space. You can do a lot with over 300 GB! LOL

Ugh, Blogger blows. Better just to wait til WordPress gets their act together.
I might see about the town hall here in Philly tonight, if I can get home in time to head over. It’s kind of a long walk, but for a good cause.
P.S. HOT camera. I don’t know how I missed the release of something that nifty, but now I must have one.

There have been some probs lately here on wordpress. I’ve had to make a couple of support requests over the last week, but things are calming down. Shit happens, but the WP team fixes them. Blogger sucks!
The next few weeks will be very busy for us peaceniks and politiaclly active people. I have a hundred events here at home and a bunch I will be attending out of town Lets all get out there and show the scumbags the run our government that we’re mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore!
The scientifically impossible I do right away
The spiritually miraculous takes a bit longer

And with that, comments are now working again. Let’s hope this lasts.
All’s right in Bradville again.

WordPress sucking? I didn’t think it was even possible!

Could the comment problem have anything to do with changing themes recently? You did, didn’t you?
August 30, 2007 at 5:29 pm
Yeah, but no. A lot of other people were having the same thing. I never got a good explanation for it, but it was pretty widespread.

If you’re having problems with wordpress.com, why don’t you try wordpress.org and see if that will work out for you, unless you don’t know how to do that and it’s way too complicated for you. I’m doing wordpress.org because I miss all the great javascript programs that are out there from icerocket to blogcatalog.
And Brad, I hope you don’t mind, if I could recommend you as part of Blog Day2007 which is held today all over the blogosphere. If you want to know what it is, check this site out.

I own my own blog, and fix my own problems. I have far too much mistrust of anything corporate-owned now to actually put my thoughts on it.
It’s good to see you up and running

I’d like to invite all of you to a new protest. A few fellow bloggers and myself have started Shut It Down. A national work stoppage. Let’s hit them where it counts in the wallet! Go to: http://shutitdown101707.blogspot.com/
